How to take care of your RV’s while self-isolating!

Usually this would be the time of year we would bring out our boats, trailers, bikes and other recreational vehicles out to play in the springtime! Unfortunately with the current events that are taking place around the world and in our own hometown, we are unable to put these to use – yet!

We wanted to share a few tips on how you can take care of your recreational vehicles while self-isolating – so they are ready to go when the time comes!

Z

INSPECT YOUR ROOF

Especially for boats and SUV’s you want to check this a few times a year. Water damage is hard to reverse, and keeping you vehicle safe from the harsh outdoor elements (especially in our climate). It is an important part of maintaining your recreational vehicles value. Take it for a wash, and see if there are any leaks coming though. If there is, make sure you get the right patch and sealant to protect it from those spring showers!

Z

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE AND RV’S WHEEL LUG NUTS

Make sure the tire pressure is in working order. Especially on your RV and any other bikes you might be taking out. Make sure that when they are ready to go out on the road, that they are able to do so without any incidents.

Z

KEEP WASTE WATER SYSTEM CLEAN AND FRESH

That waste system can collect odour and debris after sitting for a long time. Make sure before you are putting it away for the winter, you are taking proper precaution by winterizing. Then, in the spring make sure you dump and flush your tanks to keep your whole ride smelling and feeling fresh.

Z

CLEAN AND TREAT YOUR SEALS

Most RV seals on the doors and slide outs are made of rubber. This tends to collect a lot of dirt and debris over the long winter months. It is important to clean around all the deals to make sure the seal is strong and not creating rust or build up that will make it difficult to set your RV up.

CLEAN YOUR UNDERCARRIAGE

The Undercarriage of your RV picks up a lot – especially if you have put a lot of miles on it. Make sure you are cleaning underneath your RV, not just around it.  Clean off the dust debris, prevent rust from building up and reduce gas and noxious odours.
